Game of Thrones
I'm reading George Martin's "Game of Thrones" right now and let me tell you, it's a page turner. I can't put the guy down. There are some prerequisites to liking the book.
1. It's hardcore fantasy. So it's a sweeping world with a cast of hundreds and a geography and a intricate history you must relegate yourself to becoming very conversant in.
2. There is a clear line of misogynism in the book. You need to be able to get over that.
3. The first half of the first book is basically the Numbers of Fantasy. The story progresses but you're, in reality, taking a course in Martin's little world.
Beyond that the story is absolutely gripping and Martin is adept at making you fall in love with his characters. I actually giggled in anticipation at one point. I highly suggest it to anyone looking for a good yarn.

i felt that was necessary cuz of your post 2 days ago. i just reread the first 3 books in preparation for reading a fest for crows, but in all seriousness George R.R. Martin is an awesome author. His characters are so compelling. I've never read any books where the author kills off so many "main" characters though. Me: "but you can't kill him/her! he/she's practically the main character."

you all are silly, but i really want to read it. But since the book has magical powers to take over a person life Maybe i should wait until summer
Person-life, for those of you who don't know is a medievil measurement of time. Generally around 60 years or a tri-fortnight. The officially accepted period referred to as person-life would of course be the lifespan of the previous Monarch.
Goddard used the term Person-life since the series is comprised of 4 800-page books and takes a long time to read.
